Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed Wednesday morning that CB Martin Emerson Jr. will miss the 2025 season with a torn Achilles. He will have surgery to repair the injury.

"Disappointed, obviously, injuries are the worst part about our game. But he will bounce back. I know what he is made of, and he's got our support and his teammate's support," Stefanski said. "MJ is a big part of this football team, whether he is out on the field or not, he is a big part of this football team."

During a 7-on-7 drill on July 29, Emerson was covering WR Diontae Johnson on a deep route when he went down with the injury. He was evaluated on the field by the training staff and helped onto the cart to be taken off the field.

Stefanski said that he spoke with Emerson both following the injury on Tuesday and early Wednesday morning.

"He's hurting," Stefanski said. "These guys put so much into this game — physically, mentally, emotionally — and I don't want to see any of our players ever in that position. It's tough to see. Having said that, I know what this kid is made of. Yesterday was a lot, and he's sore today and it's going to be tough."
