Head coach Aaron Glenn and the Jets have spent the week coming up with a game plan to counter an aggressive Browns' defense.

New York's offense will take on the objective of getting the best of a defense that ranks in the top 10 in fewest passing and rushing yards allowed per game in Week 10 at MetLife Stadium.

"This is a team that you just take a look at their defense, they're playing at a very high level," Glenn said. "They have some key guys in key positions that are playing at a high level for them. Obviously, the D-end Myles Garrett, he's a really good player. The DB Denzel Ward, (very) good player."

Glenn hasn't publicly named who is starting the game for the Jets, but QB Justin Fields could have the test of dealing with the Browns' defense. Cleveland has given up the second-fewest total yards per game through nine weeks. Ward captains the secondary while Garrett poses a threat to both running and passing plays. Garrett leads the NFL in tackles for loss with 15 and is second in sacks with 10. Fields and the Jets' offense will have the challenge of taking Garrett out of the game while avoiding letting the rest of Cleveland's defense force New York into mistakes.

"I think they have one of the top defenses in the league," Fields said. "Of course, they have 95 (Myles Garrett) on the other side of the ball, great player, so first and foremost taking care of him. Great second level defenders and DBs as well. They trust their DBs a lot. They play a lot of man coverage. So, it's going to be about really just executing on our side of the ball and, like I said, taking care of 95 and making sure that he doesn't wreck the game."

Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz's attack penetration defense is key in helping more than just Garrett wreck the game. Twelve different Cleveland players have recorded sacks, and 10 different players have notched a tackle for loss. The Browns have capitalized on the aggressive defense with turnovers, forcing six takeaways in their last two games.

The Jets have leaned on running the ball due to a passing attack that averages the fewest yards per game in the NFL with 156.5 passing yards. New York's ground game averages the third-most yards per game in the NFL and led by RB Breece Hall. Yet, Fields has added to New York's rushing threat, running for more than 41.1 yards a game.

"When it comes to this game, man this is a team that you just take a look at their defense, they're playing at a very high level, and they have some key guys in key positions that are playing at a high level for them," Glenn said. "This is a sound, sound football team that plays very aggressive. So, we have to be on our p's and q's when it comes to how we operate on offense."

Defensively for the Jets, defensive coordinator Steve Wilks said that taking away Cleveland's ground game will be key to slowing down its offense.

However, New York's run defense has struggled this season. The Jets gave up 181 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground in their last game against the Bengals in Week 8. The game was a microcosm of their struggles defending opposing rushers, allowing 135.8 rushing yards per game this season.

The Browns have used RB Quinshon Judkins to help move down the field since his debut in Week 2. Judkins has run for 69.4 yards per game, the 11th-best average in the NFL. He has run for more than 80 yards in four of his career seven games, carrying the ball 18 or more times in each of those four games. RB Jerome Ford has also provided timely runs behind Judkins, averaging 3.5 yards per carry. Ford has been a safe pair of hands for the Browns, ranking fourth on the team in receptions with 21.

"The Browns are a good football team. Outstanding running game with the rookie running back, along with Jerome Ford," Wilks said. "We have a tough task ahead of us this week, and number one, it starts with stopping the run."

Glenn said that despite the tasks facing the Jets in Week 10 against the Browns, New York remains confident heading into the game.

"We're looking forward to the competition," Glenn said. "This is a game that's our total focus, that we're on this game. For the most part, the guys are upbeat, ready to go, just like they've always been each week, and we're looking forward to playing this team."
