In the three games QB Shedeur Sanders has started for the Browns, Bears head coach Ben Johnson said he sees a spark in their offense.
That spark could be seen in plays to fellow rookies like RB Quinshon Judkins or TE Harold Fannin Jr. in Week 14 against the Titans. Judkins and Sanders connected for a 58-yard completion while Sanders found Fannin eight times for 114 receiving yards and a touchdown. Johnson and the Bears will have to contain Sanders and the Browns' rookie playmakers in Week 15 when Cleveland and Chicago play at Soldier Field.
"I think (Browns Head Coach Kevin) Stefanski does a phenomenal job," Johnson said. "He has played with, not only Shedeur but also the other rookie quarterback. And I think he does what he can to help those guys develop and find some easy completions to get them in a rhythm and get them going. They're dangerous players. They can get hot and make you hurt in a hurry."
Sanders recorded 364 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in Week 14, becoming the first Browns quarterback to reach those marks since 1950.
He showcased his arm talent, throwing three completions of 15-plus yards through the air, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. One such throw was WR Jerry Jeudy's 60-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Sanders, however, found success with passes of less than 10 yards. He completed 17 of 24 passing attempts of 10 yards or less, according to NFL Next Gen Stats.
Five of those passes went to Fannin, but he turned three into 10-plus yard gains. Another came on a 1-yard pass from Sanders where he gained 13 yards and a first down in the fourth quarter. Chicago's secondary has also noticed how Sanders spreads the ball.
"Like any rookie quarterback, he's still working through some things, but he obviously can throw the ball," Bears DB Kevin Byard III said. "I think he's really good throwing the ball on time. Obviously, he has some good skill players he could throw the ball to. (Browns WR Jerry) Jeudy, their rookie (Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr.) I think he's a pretty good tight end as well. I think he's leading the team in all those receiver categories. He's really good."

Fannin has tallied 619 receiving yards this season, tied for fifth among tight ends in the NFL. He also has 59 receptions, which is the seventh-most among tight ends. Fannin has been a key target for Sanders since he became the starter, recording 297 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Sanders and Fannin's first touchdown connection in Week 13 against the 49ers showcased the speed-power combo that he possesses. Sanders passed the ball to an open Fannin on the left side of the field with space for him to take off. Fannin sped to the end zone and with two San Francisco defenders in his path on the goal line, he absorbed the contact and ran through both of them for the touchdown.
"I think he's really athletic," Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said. "He's faster than maybe what that time speed would say. He runs good routes and he does a great job after the catch. I mean, he's a violent runner after the catch. He can make you miss, he can run over you, run through you. So, I think he's certainly a weapon in their offense."
Sanders also has options in the backfield that he can utilize in Judkins. While Judkins has received 53 of the 78 carries since Sanders made his regular season starting debut, he has also been an effective option in the pass game. Judkins has four receptions for 76 yards in the last two games, including turning a broken play into a 58-yard gain against the Titans.
Judkins has also taken direct snaps on multiple occasions when the Browns run the wildcat package. Judkins scored two touchdowns from the formation against the Dolphins and Raiders. Byard is aware of the role that Judkins could have in the Week 15 matchup and said Chicago needs to be prepared for Judkins to take snaps.
"Obviously (Browns RB Quinshon) Judkins, he's a really good rookie running back as well," Byard said. "They do a really good job of (the wildcat). Like I said, he's a really good running back and he runs very hard."
While the Bears will try to stop Cleveland's offense, Chicago's offense will attempt to limit DE Myles Garrett's impact on the game. Garrett has 20 sacks, three sacks away from breaking the NFL single-season sack record.
Bears QB Caleb Williams is aware of Garrett's sack total this season. Williams said he is making sure that he isn't going to be the quarterback that provides the record-breaking sack. Williams and the Bears' offensive line have had experience going against some of the top edge rushers in the NFL playing in the NFC North, going against Packers DL Micah Parsons, Lions edge Aidan Hutchinson and seeing DL Montez Sweat in practice.
"Going against those types of players where they're just the S-tier players where you just have to make sure every single snap, every single play, everything is not allowing them to wreck the game," Williams said. "That's something that he can do. That's something that he's done throughout his whole career. And so, we're excited for the challenge. We're excited for this week. We're excited to try and get back into win column."
With Garrett chasing history, the Bears' offense will be keyed on him while also trying to stop the other 10 players that will try and make an impact on the game. On the other side of the ball, members of Cleveland's 2025 rookie class provide a multi-faceted approach for the Browns on offense. With Judkins being a target in the run and pass, Sanders settling in and Fannin emerging as a top target, the Bears can't just focus on one player. Chicago knows the margin for error becomes even smaller as they try to clinch a playoff spot.
"We have to be playing our best ball this time of the year, and it starts this week against Cleveland," Byard said.
