The Browns kicked off the start of the season with their first preseason win against the Panthers on Aug. 8.

QB Shedeur Sanders made his first NFL appearance, finishing with 138 passing yards, 19 rushing yards and two touchdown passes. QB Tyler Huntley, who closed out the game for the Browns, threw for 51 passing yards one touchdown, while rushing for 10 yards.

The Browns claimed their first preseason win 30-10. Cleveland pushed back against the Carolina defense, finding open spaces in the defense to move the ball downfield and into the end zone.

Here are 10 key numbers that mark the first preseason game of the 2025 season.

2- WR Kaden Davis recorded two touchdowns against Carolina. His first catch came on a 7-yard pass from Sanders in the end zone through tight coverage early in the second quarter, while the second came on a 12-yard pass from Sanders to close out the first half.

2- The Panthers totaled two giveaways, one on a muffed punt that LB Nathaniel Watson recovered to set the Browns up in the red zone, and another on an interception by S Nik Needham.

6- LB Carson Schwesinger led the Browns' defense with a total of six tackles, including four solo tackles and two combined tackles.

10.87- Sanders increased his completion percentage by 10.87 percent from the first quarter through a majority of the third quarter. Sanders' completion percentage was 50 percent in the first quarter and 60.87 when he finished his action on the turf with less than three minutes left in the third quarter.

20- Cleveland totaled 20 first downs and put up 30 points in the first preseason game against Carolina.

30- Sanders' longest pass of the day was for 30 yards, which was caught by WR Luke Floriea on a one-handed catch in the second quarter.

60- Carolina lost 60 yards due to six penalties over the course of the game. In comparison, The Browns also had six penalties for a total loss of 34 yards.

75- Huntley's completion percentage for his first game in 2025 was 75 percent, completing six of eight passes.

138- Sanders had a total of 138 passing yards against Carolina, completing 14 of 23 passes.

211- The Panthers recorded 211 net passing yards among their three quarterbacks throughout the game.
