According to Browns new starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel, there might not be anyone who thinks more highly of WR Jerry Jeudy than Gabriel himself.

Going into Week 5 with Gabriel starting against the Vikings in London, he's going to be relying on Jeudy. With DeAndre Carter and Cedric Tillman placed on injured reserve on Sept. 29, Jeudy is the sole receiver on the Browns active roster with more than two years of NFL experience.

"Just the way (Jeudy) works, the way he attacks his day to day, but how much he loves the game as well," Gabriel said. "He shows his passion, and he's a guy that we're going to continue to rely on and a guy we'll feed because he's a big part of what we do. I think as we continue to build, it'll be building reps together in continuity, but I think that that'll grow as time progresses.

After notching his first 1,000-plus yard season in 2024, Jeudy has followed that campaign up with 13 catches and 182 yards through four games, leading the Browns in receiving yards. Through the first four weeks QB Joe Flacco targeted Jeudy more than any other receiver, passing to him 30 times, also the most on Cleveland.

In Week 4 against Detroit, however, Jeudy dropped a pass from Flacco on a potential big gain and was disappointed following the game, saying he needs to make those plays.

"I dwell on (dropping the ball) for that day, but other than that, I move on and move forward. It's football, it's a part of the game. That wasn't my first drop and that's not going to be my last," Jeudy said. "I don't put too much time into it, and I do what I need to do to fix it and then move on."

Jeudy's role as the veteran of the position room becomes more important as the Browns shuffle the wide receiver room due to injuries. Second-year players and rookies like wide receivers Isaiah Bond and Jamari Thrash also may get more opportunities to make plays. With a rookie quarterback also now starting for the Browns, Jeudy knows he needs to be better to help Gabriel and his younger positional peers.

"It's very important. It's Dillon's first start so I'm trying to be the best version of myself for him so he can do what you need to do on the field," Jeudy said. "But those guys being hurt, I have to step up."

Jeudy also said the players who are filling the positions of Carter and Tillman need to step up as well to play their new roles. Players like Bond, Thrash, WR Gage Larvadain and WR Malachi Corley have shown they have the potential to do so. Larvadain and Corley were signed to the active roster from the practice squad on Sept. 30, adding depth to the receiver room.

During the preseason, Thrash and Larvadain tied for the lead with nine receptions and 94 receiving yards. Against the Lions in Week 4, Bond broke out, leading the Browns in receiving yards with 58 yards on three receptions, including a leaping 35-yard grab.

"It's having that mentality of next guy up and everybody being prepared for their moment. And uniquely enough, I'm doing the same as them, so I think we're both in that same position," Gabriel said. "I keep going back to us coming together and making sure that we continue to do that will be our biggest point of emphasis because we need to do that. The more we create positive plays and let that continue to stack on each other, then good things will happen but small bites at a time."

The next man up mentality is prevalent for the Browns going in Week 5 with a change at quarterback and wide receivers moving up the depth chart due to injuries.

Even with the changes and an offensive attack that ranks 20th in passing yards per game in the NFL, Jeudy feels like the Browns are near their potential. A successful trip to London will help give the Browns some aerial firepower for the rest of the season.

"We're getting closer each week," Jeudy said. "I feel like guys are striving to be the best version of their selves and I think we're getting close with that."
