DE Myles Garrett made both NFL and Browns' history during the month of November and was recognized by the league for his accomplishments, as he was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for November.
Garrett led all NFL players with nine sacks for the month and tied for the league lead with 13 tackles for loss despite the Browns only playing four games. He was the only NFL player to record at least one sack in each game in November and the only NFL player to record multiple tackles for loss in every game.
"He's a one in a lifetime, generational player, and you have to account for (him)," defensive line coach Jacques Cesaire said of Garrett on Nov. 7.
He anchored a defense that allowed 260.0 yards per game in November, the second fewest in the NFL. Garrett also set an NFL record for most sacks over a five-game span with 14, passing Michael Strahan's 12.5 in 2001, and tied an NFL record with 10 sacks over a three-game span. Garrett leads the NFL with 19 sacks and 29 tackles for loss this season.
This is Garrett's second AFC Defensive Player of the Month award as he also earned the honor in October 2020.
"He's got a lot more to give and super proud of him for where he is right now, but this isn't the final story yet," defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz said on Nov. 20. "He's doing a really good job within the scheme and like I've told you guys before, I'm always most proud of the way he plays the run as opposed to how he rushes the passer. And there's a lot to be proud of, the way he rushes the passer. But to have the production he has, with the opportunities he's had and also with the attention that he receives, it's fun to watch."
During the month of November, Garrett became the first player since 1982 to record at least 12 sacks in six consecutive seasons. In Week 11 against the Ravens, Garrett broke past RB Derrick Henry and closed in on QB Lamar Jackscon for the sack, marking his first of the game and his 12th of the 2025 season. With the sack, Garrett surpassed Lawrence Taylor, who recorded five consecutive seasons from 1985-89.
Garrett continued to set NFL records in Week 11, as he sacked Jackson again in the second quarter to bring his total up to 13 on the season. With his second sack of the game, Garrett became the only player in league history with five straight seasons tallying a minimum of 13 sacks, breaking a tie with T.J. Watt (four) and Reggie White (four).
Then, just a week later in Week 12, Garrett broke a franchise record for the most sacks in a single season when he recorded his 17th sack of the season. He broke past OL Stone Forsythe and RB Ashton Jeanty to bring down QB Geno Smith. It was Garrett's second sack of the day — his fourth multi-sack game of the season and third in the month of November.
With his 19 total sacks on the season, Garrett is also just four sacks away from breaking the NFL single-season sack record.
"I think you'd be hard pressed to find a more valuable player in the NFL," Schwartz said of Garrett.
