As he coaches the Browns through training camp and into the preseason, Hue Jackson is mourning the loss of his mother and brother.

Jackson's mother, Betty Lee Jackson, and brother, John Jackson Jr., passed away within two weeks of each other.

"It's been a difficult period of time for me but everyone has to go through this in life," Jackson said. "It's not easy but I always try to focus on the fond memories I've shared with the people I've lost and that helps get you through it. Dee, Jimmy, our players, coaches and really the entire organization have been so supportive and that helps. We're a close-knit group, this is a family and I'm so appreciative of everyone's support."

Jackson has remained with the team and will continue to coach heading into the team's preseason opener against the Giants on Aug. 9. He'll depart for his mother's funeral shortly after the game, when the Browns are not on the practice field for back-to-back days, and return to practice the following Sunday.
