Browns sign WR Jeff Janis and QB Drew Stanton

The Cleveland Browns have signed unrestricted free agents WR Jeff Janis and QB Drew Stanton. [

Janis is 6-3, 219 pounds and is entering his fifth NFL season out of Saginaw Valley State. Originally a seventh-round pick by Green Bay in 2014, Janis has appeared in 51 games and totaled 17 receptions for 200 yards and one touchdown. He has added 22 career special-teams tackles and returned 23 kickoffs for 568 yards (24.7 average). Janis has appeared in all 16 games each of the past three seasons. He finished his collegiate career as SVSU's all-time leader in receptions (241), receiving yards (4,274) and receiving touchdowns (46). Janis is a native of Tawas City, Mich.    Stanton is 6-3, 226 pounds and entering his 12th NFL season out of Michigan State. Originally selected by Detroit in the second round of the 2007 draft, he has spent time with the Lions (2007-11), Colts (2012) and Cardinals (2013-17). He has appeared in 38 games with 17 starts. Stanton has completed 345 of 659 career passes for 4,059 yards with 20 touchdowns. He has compiled an 11-6 record as a starter, including a 3-1 mark in 2017. Stanton is a native of Farmington Hills, Mich.
