Pregame Notes:
Westlake (0-0) is led by first-year head coach Jason Hall, who spent the previous seven seasons coaching at Massillon High School before joining the Demons.
Eastlake North (0-0) is led by first-year head coach, and North alumni Shawn Dodd, who spent the previous four seasons coaching at Gilmour Academy before joining the Rangers.
This game is the first of the year for both teams. The Demons finished 3-7 in 2014; a record shared by the Rangers. Both teams will look to improve in 2015 with a strong season-opener.
The Demons will rely on a pair of experienced offensive players in QB Andris Balodis and RB JaQuan Hardy. Balodis was a second team All-Lakes District selection last season in his first year starting. The Rangers will need a pair of seniors, QB Zane
Bunnel and RB/LB Kenny Uzarevic to lead the offense against an inexperienced Demons defense. Look for a QB dual between Balodis and Bunnel.
Both first-year head coaches need to establish confidence in their teams with a week one victory. Will Shawn Dodd's return energize his alma mater, or will Jason Hall's wealth of experience pay off for the Demons?
