2024 Schedule Release: Takeaways from the Browns' 2024 slate of games

The Browns’ second half of the season is filled with divisional matchups

2024 Schedule Takeaways

The Browns' 2024 regular season schedule is officially out, so we're taking a look at the five biggest takeaways from the 17-game slate.

Browns highlighted more in prime time

The Browns doubled their prime-time slots from the 2023 season to the 2024 season, as they will play in four prime time games throughout the season. They are among the six teams that have four prime time games in 2024.

They have two Thursday night games, which the Browns have won their last six games on Thursday night and own an 11-8 all-time record on Thursday.

The first comes against the Steelers in Week 12 at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The Browns have won their last eight home games on Thursday night, including two wins against the Steelers during that span. The Browns are 9-2 all-time at home on Thursday night. The other Thursday night game comes in Week 16 against another divisional rival in the Bengals when they travel to Cincinnati on Dec. 19.

The Browns will also host a Sunday night game against the Dolphins in Week 17. It will be their sixth Sunday night game that they have hosted and the first since Sept. 22, 2019. They will also travel to Denver to face the Broncos on Monday night in Week 13.

AFC North opponents backloaded

The Browns don't face a divisional opponent until Week 7 of the regular season when they face the Bengals at home. They'll play their first two games against AFC North opponents in Week 7 and Week 8 when they also host the Ravens. It's a sharp juxtaposition from the 2023 season when the Browns faced three division rivals in the first four weeks of the season.

In the final seven weeks of the regular season, the Browns will play four divisional games, including closing out the season against the Ravens in Baltimore in Week 18. It's the fourth time in team history that the Browns have closed the regular season against the Ravens and the first since 2018.

Three consecutive road games

An interesting wrinkle in the Browns' schedule is three consecutive road games in the first portion of the season. Cleveland will be on the road from Week 4 through Week 6, playing the Raiders, Commanders and Eagles all on the road. It's the first time since 2011 that the Browns have played three straight road games.

The Browns will also play four total road games in the first six weeks of the season.

Following the three-game road stretch, the Browns will also host three consecutive home games at Cleveland Browns Stadium leading up to their bye week in Week 10.

Bye week arrives in middle of the season

After having one of the earliest bye weeks in 2023 in Week 5, the Browns' bye week for 2024 more evenly splits the season into two sections. Coming in Week 10, Cleveland will play nine games before the bye week, and eight following.

Week 10 will be a time for rest for the Browns and allow the team to gauge where they are as a team at the halfway point of the season. It also follows the NFL trade deadline, which is set for Nov. 5 following Week 9.

It will also give Cleveland a chance to prepare for the AFC North-filled latter half of the season that could have serious playoff implications.

Home games against playoff teams

The Browns have a tough home schedule, as they will face six opponents who finished the 2023 season with a .500 record or higher. They will also host five teams at Cleveland Browns Stadium this season who made the playoffs last year. Those teams include the Steelers, Ravens, Chiefs, Dolphins and Cowboys.

Not only are they playing five teams who made the playoffs, they are also welcoming the defending Super Bowl champs to Cleveland when they host the Chiefs in Week 15. It's a tough home schedule for the Browns, but one that could create electric atmospheres in Cleveland Browns Stadium.
