Twenty minutes after Monday's practice ended, WR Gage Larvadain still hadn't exited the field.
First, he caught passes from QB Tyler Huntley in the end zone, then he sat down in a circle on the field with fellow rookies QB Shedeur Sanders and WR Kisean Johnson. Finally, Larvadain got up to leave what he called the best part of practice, closing out another day in what has been an impressive training camp for Larvadain.
"If you're the same person every day, it becomes who you are," Larvadain said. "I've just been consistent, tried to be consistent every day, and I think I've just grown as a person and as a player, every day."
After being signed as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina in May, so far through training camp, he has become a favorite target of the Browns' quarterbacks in practices.
On Day 1 and 4 of training camp, QB Dillon Gabriel and Larvadain connected for long passes. On Day 7, the two connected for a second touchdown during training camp. On Day 9, Larvadain had his best day of training camp, catching five passes, one of which came from QB Joe Flacco floating a pass into the back of the end zone for Larvadain.
"Yeah, I thought Gage (Larvadain) has done a really nice job, again going back to rookie minicamp," head coach Kevin Stefanski said. "He's a kid that you can really depend on. He knows what to do. And then he's fast. He's made plays with the ball in his hand, and it's good for that to show up in games. And quarterbacks love throwing to guys they can trust."
Among the Browns' quarterbacks, Sanders may be the one with who Larvadain is closest. Not only does Larvadain think they both have a chip on their shoulders trying to prove themselves, but they've also connected on the field during training camp and preseason.
In the preseason game against the Panthers, Larvadain and Sanders connected twice for 23 yards, including getting a first down on third-and-8 with a 19-yard reception. Larvadain also returned a punt for 30 yards in the game as well as scoring his first NFL touchdown on a 4-yard end-around.
In Monday's practice, Sanders floated a ball into the end zone for Larvadain, allowing Larvadain to catch the ball over the defender in coverage. Larvadain and Sanders' chemistry with each other can be attributed to the two becoming a perfect match in the offseason, according to Larvadain.
"He's just somebody that people gravitate to naturally," Larvadain said of Sanders. "I mean, as quarterback-receiver, it's kind of one of those things, especially when we train in the offseason. It's kind of hard to be a receiver and train by yourself, you need somebody to throw the ball to. It's kind of hard for (Shedeur Sanders) to train throwing the ball with no one to catch it, so it was just a perfect little match."

Larvadain has been held to a standard by the veterans in the receiver room like Jerry Jeudy and Diontae Johnson, as well as wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator Chad O'Shea. As a result, offensive coordinator Tommy Rees has taken note of Larvadain since he signed with the Browns.
"Gage (Larvadain) has done a really nice job," offensive coordinator Tommy Rees said. "He's shown up. He's competed from the day he stepped foot with us in the offseason. He knows what to do, knows how to do it. And when you put in that work, good results usually follow."
Coming in as a UDFA into a crowded wide receiver room, Larvadain has tried to use his resources to better himself and keep to the standard he is being held to. He's talking to players like Jeudy, Johnson or WR DeAndre Carter as much as he can. To reciprocate their help, he's trying to be the best teammate he can, saying that the football stuff will take care of itself through good karma.
And Larvadain has cashed in his good karma with the Browns' quarterbacks, seemingly becoming a favorite target, if not an often-open target, for them to throw to.
"God has blessed me with the opportunity to be here, to be able to compete in that game with my teammates, with my coaches, with the Browns," Larvadain said. "It's been a great experience, a fun experience -- something I hope I can keep doing."
