What: Greater Cleveland Conference
Date of Game: Friday, Oct. 23

OHSAA Football Computer Ratings:
8.) Rocky River (Division 3, Region 8)
10.) Elyria Catholic (Division 5, Region 16)

The Pirates, led by Coach Josh Wells, will be looking to continue their strong play against a desperate Elyria Catholic team.  Coming off a big win against Parma, the Pirates need to keep the momentum as the playoffs rapidly approach.

Led by Coach David Stupka, The Panthers desperately need to win out as they currently sit on the outside looking in with the playoffs looming. Coming off a big win over Normandy, the Panthers need to finish the season on the right trend.

The Pirates have been getting production from a running back by committee backfield. Sophomore running backs, Popovich and Crawford both have over 500 yards on the ground and combine for 12 scores. While we should expect to see a heavy dose of the running game, don't count out senior quarterback, Eric Jones, who has over 1,000 yard passing and 13 touchdowns with only 3 interceptions.

Sitting at 5-3 and coming off a win, the Panthers need continued momentum on their side. Coming off a 6-rushing touchdown performance last week, all signs point to the Panthers keeping the ball on the ground. Junior running back, Sam Best should be the main feature of the ground attack, as he rushed for 3 of the touchdowns last week.

With both teams possessing a strong rushing attack, which defense can win the line of scrimmage and create takeaways? As Rocky River fights to hold on to their playoff spot, Elyria Catholic is trying to keep their postseason hopes alive for another week.

Will the Pirates pillage the Panthers defense, or will the Panthers pounce quickly and upset the Pirates. Find out tonight in this late season conference matchup.
