Key Moments
The Jets score two special teams touchdowns 36 seconds apart
The Jets special teams units put points on the board for the Jets in the first quarter.
Jets RB Kene Nwangwu took the kickoff 99 yards and tied the game with 6:25 left in the first quarter after Cleveland's touchdown to take a 7-0 lead. Nwangwu went down the right hashmark, shaking off DE Cameron Thomas's tackle attempt and running back to the right sideline. He outran the trailing Cleveland defenders and hopped into the end zone.
Gabriel had three consecutive incompletions after the Browns got the ball back, punting the ball back to the Jets. WR Isaiah Williams continued New York's special teams' success, returning P Corey Bojorquez's punt 74 yards for a touchdown to give the Jets a 14-7 lead with 5:45 left on the clock in the first quarter. Williams hit a hole in the Browns' punt coverage and then split Bojorquez and S Rayshawn Jenkins to finish the punt return.
Browns turn interception into instant touchdown
As QB Justin Fields looked across the field for WR Garrett Wilson, he threw the ball in Wilson's direction. However, Hickman jumped the route for his second interception of the season. Hickman ran 15 yards to set up the offense at the Jets 22-yard line with 10:41 left in the second quarter.
On the first play of the Browns' offensive possession, Gabriel rolled to his right on a play-action pass, planted his feet at the 32-yard line and aimed to the end zone for Jeudy. The sixth-year wideout came back on his route and dove, catching the ball for his first touchdown of the season and tying the game at 14 with 10:41 left in the first half.
Breece Hall leads Jets offense to a touchdown
With 3:35 left in the third quarter and the Jets and Browns still tied at 17, New York gave the brunt of the possession to RB Breece Hall. Hall ran the ball six consecutive plays totaling 23 yards, including getting two third-down conversions before the third quarter ended.
As the offensive possession continued to start the fourth quarter, New York went away from Hall on the first play. Fields gave the ball to WR John Metchie III, who lost seven yards. The Jets went back to Hall on the next play, throwing a screen pass to the running back. Hall caught the ball behind the line of scrimmage and went 42 yards all the way to the end zone untouched, scoring to give the Jets a 24-17 lead. The Jets held onto the lead for the rest of the game.
