Browns fans donate blood to support Red Cross

The Annual Cleveland Browns Blood Drive helped kick off Browns Training Camp again this year as the team held the drives in 14 sites simultaneously in Northeast Ohio to benefit the American Red Cross for the 14th year. Thanks to fans, the Browns Blood Drive was a success and this year's drive has the potential to help over 1,700 patients in Northern Ohio.

The Annual Cleveland Browns Blood Drive comes at a vital time for the American Red Cross. Recently, the American Red Cross alerted the public through an urgent call for blood donors as they are facing a looming blood shortage. Donations through the Red Cross are down with thousands of fewer donations than expected. The shortage is significant enough that the Red Cross could experience an emergency situation in the coming weeks. Browns fans who donated helped make a difference with this summer shortage.

Donors who gave blood at the Browns Blood Drive received a commemorative t-shirt and had the chance to win Browns memorabilia and preseason tickets. Browns Alumni, Dave Wohlabaugh, Judson Flint and Steve Zahursky supported the blood drive and signed autographs for fans as select sites.

American Red Cross is also one of the Browns First and Ten community partners. The non-profit organization exists to provide compassionate care for those in need and is always searching for volunteers and blood donors. If you missed the Browns Blood Drive at Training Camp, you can still donate blood, make an appointment at redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
