PHILADELPHIA – The Browns wrapped up their second and final set of joint practices of the preseason on Thursday.

For the second of two joint practices, the Browns and Eagles split the script into three teams periods, two special teams periods focused on kickoff and kick return and individual periods. With the emphasis on team drills, QB Joe Flacco and QB Dillon Gabriel took the reps, while QB Kenny Pickett took reps during individual drills for the day's practice. QB Shedeur Sanders, who sustained an oblique strain, was out on the practice field but did not participate in drills.

"I thought it was a good battle for both days," Pickett said of the joint practices. "I think there was highs on both sides, there were some lows on both sides; but the competitiveness, the want to, was there. I really liked the way we competed. Guys were going at it, so it was a positive."

Here are the main observations from the second and final joint practice.

First 11-on-11 period

As the Browns' offense took the field against the Eagles's defense, Flacco took the first set of reps for Cleveland. They ran a handful of run plays with Flacco handing the ball off to RB Dylan Sampson and Flacco on a quarterback keep up the middle. He also handed the ball off to RB Jerome Ford, who found the running lane for a solid gain.

Gabriel took the second set of reps, starting with a handoff to RB Ahmani Marshall and another to RB Pierre Strong Jr.. who found his way into the end zone.

Defensively, DT Mason Graham applied pressure on QB Jalen Hurts during a rep, while DE Cameron Thomas had a "sack" and applied pressure on QB Tanner McKee. LB Jerome Baker also blew up designed quarterback run play for Hurts.

Second 11-on-11 period

In the second team period, Flacco kicked off his reps with a completion to WR Cedric Tillman in the middle of the field. The Browns then pulled out a trick play as Flacco threw a short pass to TE Harold Fannin Jr., who then launched the ball downfield to and connected with Ford.

After Gabriel took a set of reps, Flacco took a second set in which he connected with TE David Njoku for a gain and WR Jamari Thrash in the end zone for a touchdown.

Defensively, the Browns continued to apply pressure on the Eagle's offense, as both DE Alex Wright and DT Maliek Collins pressured Hurts. S Grant Delpit also broke up a pass in the end zone intended for FB Ben VanSumeren.

Third 11-on-11 period

In the final team period of the practice, both teams ran red zone situational drills. Flacco started the period off for the Browns' offense, connecting with WR Jerry Jeudy for a touchdown in the end zone. On a later rep, Flacco found Njoku for the completion in the end zone, and Njoku slammed the ball on the ground and jumped in celebration of the play. Flacco closed out his reps with a hook-and-ladder play, pitching the ball to Fannin who threw a pass to Sampson, and Sampson finished the play in the end zone for the conversion.

Gabriel closed out the final period with two reps, one in which he found WR Diontae Johnson near the goal line, but the pass was dropped and picked up by Eagles S Andrew Mukuba. Gabriel also connected with Fannin on a deep pass and Fannin ran into the end zone for the touchdown – with Delpit ran over to the end zone to celebrate with Fannin.

Defensively, both Garrett and DE Isaiah McGuire pressured Hurts during a rep, while Ward had a pass breakup over WR DeVonta Smith as he tried to catch a pass in the end zone. CB Dom Jones broke up a pass intended for WR Darius Cooper in the end zone for an incompletion for the Eagles.
