The Browns emphasized red zone work during both 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 periods in Wednesday's practice, as head coach Todd Monken explained was the plan on Sunday.

The quarterbacks continued to rotate reps, finding multiple different receivers for touchdowns during the red zone periods. Along with the offense's performance, the secondary tallied two interceptions while making key plays to force incompletions.

Here are three observations from Wednesday's practice.

Quarterback rep rotation continues on Day 16

QB Shedeur Sanders took all the first team reps during Wednesday's practice while QB Deshaun Watson took most of the second team work. QB Dillon Gabriel filled in for a few 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 periods with the second team.

Sanders connected with both WR Jerry Jeudy and TE Harold Fannin Jr. during the first 7-on-7 period of practice. In the final 11-on-11 two-minute drill, Sanders fired a pass to WR Denzel Boston for a solid gain near the left sideline.

Watson found WR Malachi Corley by the right sideline for a solid gain during the first 11-on-11 period.

Gabriel completed a pass to TE Jermaine Terry over the middle of the field during a 7-on-7 period in the red zone.

Secondary makes big plays

During the first 11-on-11 period, Watson threw a deep pass to WR Tylan Wallace by the right sideline with CB Tre Avery in coverage. The two players appeared to come down with the ball simultaneously, but Avery wrestled the ball from Wallace on the way to the ground, prompting a celebration from the entire defense. CB Michael Coats Jr. undercut WR Gage Larvadain by the goal line and dove for the defense's second interception of practice during an 11-on-11 period. Both CB Tyler Hall and CB Jeremiah McClendon recorded pass breakups during 11-on-11 periods of practice on Wednesday.

S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren continued to make an impact in the pass game on Day 16. In the first 11-on-11 period of practice, McNeil-Warren jarred the ball from Fannin to force an incompletion. McNeil-Warren also broke up a pass intended for Larvadain by the goal line during a 7-on-7 period in the red zone.

Offense tallies multiple red zone touchdowns

During a 7-on-7 period in the red zone, Sanders connected with WR KC Concepcion on a back shoulder throw in the end zone for a touchdown. Watson found Larvadain across the middle of the field for the offense's second red zone touchdown of practice during the same 7-on-7 period.

Sanders fired a low pass to TE Blake Whiteheart for another touchdown during the next 7-on-7 portion. Gabriel teamed up with Corley during the same 7-on-7 period on a short completion over the middle of the field to add another touchdown to the offense's tally.

Defense comes up with key plays in 11-on-11 periods

On one of the opening plays of the first 11-on-11 period the defense made its presence felt, as DT Mason Graham stuffed a run by RB Dylan Sampson for a likely tackle for loss. S Grant Delpit and Okwara also blew up a screen pass to Sampson during the first 11-on-11 period to add to the defense's standout plays.

DE Julian Okwara and LB Quincy Williams both got to Sanders for a likely sack in the second 11-on-11 portion of practice.
