During the 2025 offseason, P Corey Bojorquez and his wife, Diana, contemplated how they wanted to give back to the community this season.
By the end of the preseason, they had solidified their idea. This season, Bojorquez and his family are donating $1,000 for every punt inside the 20-yard line to benefit the Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute of University Hospitals.
Bojorquez announced his season-long initiative on Sept. 30 as a part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and ahead of the NFL's league-wide initiative of Crucial Catch: Intercept Cancer in the month of October to support the fight against cancer. Through the first six games of the season, Bojorquez has totaled 11 punts inside the 20.
"I think it's just another way that we can help these kids out, kind of get them through what they're going through," Bojorquez said.
Over the course of his NFL career, Bojorquez said they have looked for opportunities to work in the local community and give back. During his first two seasons with the Bills, Bojorquez worked with the P.U.N.T. Pediatric Cancer Collaborative (formerly P.U.N.T. Foundation), which provides support to families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis.
In 2023, he worked with Atlanta punter Bradley Pinion's Punts for Purpose program through Compassion International. The program donates $1,000 for every punt inside the 20-yard line to raise money for mothers and infants in extreme poverty. Bojorquez said Pinion reached out to him and a number of punters around the league about joining in on the initiative, and Bojorquez jumped at the opportunity. In 2023, Bojorquez totaled 31 punts inside the 20.
Last season, Bojorquez continued to work with Compassion International, and recorded 36 punts inside the 20. Bojorquez and his family also supported a local Northeast Ohio child, Spencer, who was battling with leukemia and is now in remission. Through a mutual connection when Bojorquez said they bought their house, they learned of Spencer's battle with leukemia, and invited him out to training camp and a game in 2023.
Wherever his NFL career has taken him, he has found different ways to give back to the community.
"Part of it's just growing up, you see a lot of stuff," Bojorquez said. "A lot of people living in tough times, that sort of thing. You have family going through it. So, I think with how fortunate we are to have everything we have now, it makes you want to give back and help other people kind of get there with you."
And while Bojorquez hasn't widely shared his initiative, his teammates have heard in passing of Bojorquez's work.
"It sums him up pretty well," K Andre Szmyt said. "He's such an amazing guy, super caring. Obviously, he has a family and kids of his own, so just to see how good of a dad he is, and role model, leader and captain of this team is really inspiring to look up to someone like that in our room."
