Mayfield vs. Hudson
Records: Mayfield, 11-1; Hudson, 10-2
What: Division II, Regional Finals - Region 3
Kickoff: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Location: Stewart Field, Solon High School, 33600 Inwood Dr., Solon, OH

The Hudson Explorers enter tonight's Division II, Regional Finals matchup with 28 rushing touchdowns and 2,521 yards rushing--an average of 5.6 yard per carry and 210 yards per game. Sophomore RB, Kevin Callahan, leads the ground attack with 828 yards rushing, while Jackson Parker (527 yards), Matt Restifo (440 yards) and Roman Moreno (413 yards) provide depth and a dynamic challenge to defenses. While the Explorers average 30.9 points per game, the defense has only allowed 89 points all season--an average of 1 touchdown against per game. A big part of their defensive success is the 31 takeaways (16-Int, 15-Fmb Rec (2.58 avg. per game)).

The Mayfield Wildcats senior QB, Mario Monastero, has amassed 2,000 yards passing and 25 touchdowns. When Monastero isn't spreading the ball around through the air, he relies on Junior RB, Michael Canganelli, who has registered over 1,500 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns. Giving up 258 yards rushing last week to Harding, Mayfield's defense will need to make some adjustments and control the line of scrimmage if they want to slow Hudson's run heavy offense.

Both teams are no strangers to deep postseason play. As that familiar November chill enters Solon Stewart Field, both teams know the reality and implications of tonight's outcome.
