Browns defense makes plays on Day 3 of minicamp | OTAs & Minicamp

Browns wrapped up the final day of minicamp on Thursday

Day 3 Observations_6.12.25

The Browns wrapped up minicamp with their third and final practice. Now, the Browns will break for a remainder of the offseason before the team reconvenes at the end of July to kick off training camp.

Here are some observations for the third practice of minicamp.

Defense making plays

During different periods of team drills, the defense made their presence known. In a modified 11-on-11 period, QB Joe Flacco threw a pass that was intended for WR Jerry Jeudy. However, CB Martin Emerson Jr. came across the field and got a hand on the ball for the pass breakup. In another red zone 11-on-11 period, CB Denzel Ward had a pass breakup in the end zone over TE Tre' McKitty, and DE Julian Okwara would have recorded a sack on QB Dillon Gabriel.

DT Maliek Collins batted down two passes in Thursday's practice. He got his hand on a pass from Flacco and another from QB Kenny Pickett.

11-on-11 red zone drills

Flacco, Pickett and Gabriel all took reps during the 11-on-11 red zone period on one field before they two-spotted and split into two fields. During the first period, Flacco handed the ball off to RB Quinshon Judkins who ran in for the touchdown. Pickett threw a checkdown pass to Judkins and another pass to McKitty in the back of the end zone for the touchdown. Gabriel took the last of the reps, completing one of three passes.

Modified team drills

Then, when the Browns two-spotted for a modified team period, QB Shedeur Sanders took reps following Gabriel. In Gabriel's reps, he connected with WR Gage Larvadain, WR Kisean Johnson and WR Jaelen Gill on three of his passing attempts. Sanders connected with McKitty on a pass downfield and another to Johnson.

Two-minute drills

In the final portion of practice, the Browns ran through a two-minute drill. Pickett, Gabriel and Sanders each took reps during the drill, with Pickett starting with the offense. Pickett connected with TE David Njoku on a pass near the sideline, and another to WR Kaden Davis. Pickett also handed the ball off to RB Jerome Ford, who found a gap in the defense to run through.

Then, Gabriel took reps, connecting with TE Harold Fannin Jr. on two separate passes, including one down the sideline. He also connected with TE Blake Whiteheart in the middle of the field as Whiteheart found space in the open field. During Sanders' reps, he connected with Johnson, Gill, WR Luke Floriea and TE Brenden Bates, as well as handed the ball off to Judkins who weaved through the defense to find a gap.
