CLEVELAND, OH – The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship is making its long-awaited return to Cleveland for the first time in three decades. On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the world's top two-wheel racers will converge at Huntington Bank Field for one of the 17 stops on the Supercross schedule, part of the prestigious Monster Energy SMX World Championship series.
To mark this historic announcement, Supercross, in partnership with the Cleveland Browns and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, will host a special press conference on Tuesday, September 30 at 10 a.m. at Huntington Bank Field, featuring major announcements along with appearances from Supercross racers, Cleveland Browns players, and the team's beloved mascot, Chomps. The press conference will be hosted by SMX broadcaster Jason Weigandt, and feature an appearance by Mantua native and racer, Jeremy Hand. Also, in attendance will be six-time American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Champion and AMA HOF member (AMA is based in Pickerington, Ohio), Broc Glover. Plus, Bill Heras, Director of Operations for Supercross.
"We're thrilled to be adding Cleveland to the Supercross schedule after decades away," said Dave Prater, Vice President of Supercross for Feld Motor Sports. "The state of Ohio has produced iconic moments over multiple racing disciplines for generations. Cleveland sports fans, in particular, are among the most dedicated in the nation, and we can't wait to welcome them back to SMX racing as the sport enters one of its most exciting eras."
Supercross has only visited Cleveland once before—back in 1995, when "The King" of Supercross Jeremy McGrath took home the win. McGrath went on to solidify himself as one of the sport's greatest stars, and his victory in Cleveland remains a celebrated moment in the city's sports history.
"We couldn't be more excited to work alongside the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Feld Entertainment to bring an iconic event like Supercross to Huntington Bank Field this upcoming spring," said Haslam Sports Group Managing Partner JW Johnson. "Hosting the AMA Supercross Championship for the first time in 30 years will unite so many passionate fans here at our stadium who will get to see a world-class event and all the terrific experiences Northeast Ohio has to offer."
The return of Supercross guarantees Cleveland an unforgettable showcase of speed, skill, and world-class competition.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Monster Energy AMA Supercross back to Cleveland in 2026, marking the first time in 30 years that our city has hosted this elite motorsport event. Its return not only brings high-energy entertainment to our community, but it also represents a significant economic opportunity—drawing thousands of visitors, filling our hotels and restaurants, and creating a meaningful boost for local businesses. This is yet another example of how major sporting events can energize our community and showcase Cleveland as a premier destination for world-class competition," said David Gilbert, President and CEO of Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Destination Cleveland.

About The Cleveland Browns
A member of the National Football League's AFC North division, the Cleveland Browns have long been among the most iconic and historic professional football clubs. Bolstered by eight league titles, 13 division championships and 17 Pro Football Hall of Famers, the Browns were established in 1945 as a charter team of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). The Browns played their inaugural season in 1946 and finished in first place during each of the league's four years of existence (1946-49). Cleveland was one of three AAFC teams selected to merge with the NFL in 1950 and appeared in the league's title game in each of its first seven seasons, claiming three of its four NFL championships overall (1950; 1954-55; 1964) during that stretch. The Browns' 16 Pro Football Hall of Famers, the sixth-most in the NFL, include founder Paul Brown, legends Jim Brown, Otto Graham and Lou Groza, as well as Marion Motley and Bill Willis, two of the first African-Americans who helped break professional sports' race barrier in 1946. After a relocation to Baltimore in 1995, Cleveland was awarded an expansion franchise that returned to play in 1999, retaining all of the club's history and its namesake. In 2012, Dee and Jimmy Haslam, purchased a controlling interest of the Cleveland Browns. Their vision for the Browns is to build a consistently winning football team, to take exceptional care of Browns fans and to be leaders in giving back to the Northeast Ohio community. The Browns, led by Head Coach Kevin Stefanski and Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Andrew Berry, play their home games at Huntington Bank Field.
