Fans were back at CrossCountry Mortgage Campus on Friday for the Browns' first of nine open practice sessions.
With the increased energy in the building, T Dawand Jones used the opportunity to hype up the crowd in between drills.
The excitement translated to some big plays. Head coach Todd Monken explained, before practice, the plan for Friday was to work on third and extra-long situations along with three level routes and no-huddle work.
The Browns rotated through the wide receiver unit on the long passing downs and more developing routes, while the linebacker room stepped up on Day 3.
Quarterbacks push the ball down the field
QB Deshaun Watson was back with the first team on Friday as the Browns continue to rotate reps between him and QB Shedeur Sanders.
Watson connected with WR Denzel Boston on a deep pass by the boundary towards the end of an 11-on-11 period as the Browns worked on third and extra-long scenarios. In 7-on-7, Watson rolled to his left and found WR Gage Larvadain for a big gain. Similar to Day 2, the Browns practiced multiple designed quarterback runs with Watson during 11-on-11 play.
Sanders, similar to Watson, threw the ball down the field on Friday more than any other day so far. The second-year quarterback found Boston deep down the sidelines for a 35-yard gain during 7-on-7 work. Sanders and Boston teamed up once again on a route over the middle of the field during the late 11-on-11 period.
Wide receiver room rotates while rookies impress
The Browns cycled through six wide receivers during single-field 11-on-11 work on Friday. WR Isaiah Bond, WR KC Concepcion and WR Jerry Jeudy worked with the first team offense, while Boston, WR Jamari Thrash and WR Tylan Wallace ran routes with the second team.
During two-spotting 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 periods, Boston and Concepcion worked with Sanders and QB Taylen Green, while Bond and Jeudy took reps with Watson and Gabriel, which has been consistent on all three days of camp so far.
With the Browns throwing the ball down the field more on Friday, the rookie wide receivers full skillsets were on display.
Boston showcased his vertical and jump-ball ability on his catch from Sanders during 7-on-7. The second-round pick made three catches of 10 or more yards down the field on Day 3 of camp. On the connection with Sanders during 11-on-11, Boston gained a couple yards of separation on the route.
Concepcion picked up right where he left on Friday, making a leaping grab from Sanders during 7-on-7. The first-round pick lined up in the slot in three wide receiver sets with the first-team offense during single-field 11-on-11.
In the short and intermediate game, Bond made multiple grabs. The Browns also used Bond on screen passes during 11-on-11 towards the end of practice.

Michael Burton's potential role in the offense
In the offseason, the Browns signed FB Michael Burton in free agency, as Monken's offenses have historically used fullbacks. FB Patrick Ricard averaged a nearly 40 percent snap share under Monken over the past three seasons with the Ravens. On Day 3 of training camp Burton was used across different formations.
In 7-on-7 he was lined up near the quarterback, working with both the first and second team offenses. Burton lined up both in the backfield as well on the ball, blocking and running routes in 11-on-11.
The Browns didn't have a traditional fullback last season, and Burton's inclusion is one change to the offense on display so far in training camp. In 2024 with the Broncos, Burton posted 10 receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown.
Running backs coach Duce Staley discussed his excitement around the addition of a fullback to the offense.
"I love it, especially in today's defenses where you see the linebackers getting smaller and smaller," Staley said. "And the linebackers are getting smaller and smaller so they can run with number three, cover number three and cover some of these receivers. Well, when you face a defense like that and you got a fullback that can go in there and crack a couple heads, it makes you feel good."
Linebacker corps has big day
LB Carson Schwesinger and LB Quincy Williams, along with the rest of the linebacker corps, were the standouts of the defense on Day 3 of training camp. During 11-on-11, Williams read the eyes of Watson and intercept a ball across the middle of the field. LB Nathaniel Watson intercepted QB Dillon Gabriel's pass late in 11-on-11, giving the linebacker corps it's second pick of the afternoon.
LB Easton Mascarenas-Arnold took reps with the first team defense in three linebacker sets. The Browns practiced their linebacker blitz packages out of a three-linebacker set, getting home for what would be sacks multiple times during 11-on-11 play. Schwesinger had a good bull rush during the blitz package session.
"I think we're getting better at running our patterns," linebackers coach Jason Tarver said before practice. "That's what we call them, our blitz patterns, faster and faster. And we can be really multiple when we learn how to work with each other, picking guys for each other. The quickness with which you feel something across your face and work off it is what we're really trying to get better and better at. We've been really good here in the past and we've got room to grow still."
