BEREA, Ohio – The NFL (National Football League) and USAA, an official NFL Salute to Service partner, announced this year's nominees for the Salute to Service Award presented by USAA. Each year, the Salute to Service Award recognizes NFL players, coaches, staff and alumni who make exceptional efforts to honor and support military and veteran communities. The Cleveland Browns are proud to announce Guard Wyatt Teller as their 2025 Salute to Service Award nominee.
"Wyatt has built a real and authentic connection with the Northern Ohio military community throughout his time here with the Cleveland Browns," said Jenner Tekancic, Vice President of Community Relations. "He has proven to lead by example and continuously extends his support to recognize and honor those organizations and individuals who serve our country and community."
Teller is a three-time Pro Bowl selection (2021–23) and earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2020 and 2021. A dominant presence on the offensive line, he has helped the Browns record four games with at least 200 rushing yards, Cleveland's most in a single season since 1978.
Off the field, he brings that same commitment to his community. Inspired by his father, who served as a reserve for both the Marines and US Army, Teller dedicates his time to supporting military service members and their families. A 2022 Salute to Service honoree, he continues to strengthen connections within the Northern Ohio military community through his support of Folds of Honor, USO, and the Green Beret Foundation, which provides emergency, immediate, and ongoing assistance to U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers and their families.
"It's a special moment," Teller said. "In a way, I feel like I'm honoring my dad and everything he stood for. I'm proud to represent the Browns and to continue supporting the men and women who serve our country."
Once more this season, fans have an opportunity to determine the award's three finalists by voting for their favorite nominee. One vote per day for each nominee is permitted. The three finalists will be announced in January, and the recipient will be recognized at NFL Honors; a primetime awards special to air nationally during the week of Super Bowl LX. For the past 15 seasons, the Salute to Service Award has been an integral part of the NFL's and USAA's year-round commitment to recognize the military and veteran community. As the presenting sponsor of the award, USAA, a leading provider of insurance, banking and financial services to U.S. military members, veterans and their families, will contribute $25,000 in the recipient's name to official aid societies representing all U.S. military branches. The NFL Foundation will match USAA's contribution by donating an additional $25,000 to the awardee's military non-profit charity of choice.
Through the league's Salute to Service initiative, the NFL and all teams from across the league unite to honor, empower and connect with service members, veterans and their families during Weeks 9-11 of the regular season. The initiative will come to life in NFL stadiums across the country through on-field branding and other game day activations. The Browns' Salute to Service game is slated for Nov. 16 when Cleveland will take on the Baltimore Ravens and will feature a full field flag, a Medal of Honor recipient recognition, and much more to honor those who have served.
