Emmanuel Ogbah won't play this weekend in New Orleans.
The Browns defensive end was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints because of an ankle injury.
Ogbah, the third-year player and former second-round pick, sustained the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's tie against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He later returned but was limited throughout the contest, totaling just 27 snaps.
Jackson said the Browns will monitor Ogbah on a weekly basis with the hope he'll return sooner than later.
"We're just going to take it week to week and see where we are," he said, adding that the team's Thursday Night Football bout with the Jets next week would make for a quick turnaround.Â
Though Jackson expressed optimism Ogbah might be able to play earlier this week, Cleveland will turn to Chris Smith and newcomer Anthony Zettel to fill the void. The Browns signed Smith in free agency and claimed Zettel off waivers last week.
Ogbah missed six games in 2017 because of a season-ending foot injury.
Linebacker Christian Kirksey is considered questionable as he deals with shoulder and ankle injuries. The fifth-year veteran and team captain has never missed a game, appearing in 65 of 65 since joining the team in 2014.
Defensive back Damarious Randall, who was added to the injury report Thursday with a head/neck injury, was a full participant Friday and is expected to play. So, too, are linebacker James Burgess (concussion) and defensive back E.J. Gaines (knee), both of whom were sidelined for the season opener.
