In the week nine High School Game of the Week in association with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) matchup, the Chagrin Falls Tigers will host the Beachwood Bisons. Chagrin Falls had a rough start to the season after losing their first five games, but have since turned things around and are currently on a three game win streak. Now they look to defend their home turf on senior night as they welcome the Bisons of Beachwood to Harris Stadium this Friday.
Chagrin Falls struggled on both sides of the ball at the beginning of the season. After losing their first five games, the Tigers found themselves with their back against the wall. They knew a drastic change had to be made in order to finish the season with momentum for the future. Three weeks ago is when the ball started rolling for the Tigers. They upset then conference leader, Orange (6-2) in a 29-21 matchup to give Orange their first loss of the season. The momentum from that win carried over that following week when they outlasted their rival, Harvey (0-8) in a 40-21 battle. Just last week they were able to shutout West Geauga (2-6) for their third straight win. The Tigers hope to keep their streak alive this week, but they will have to get past a tough Beachwood Bisons team first.
The Bisons’ season got off to a different start than the Tigers. Beachwood opened their season with a 4-0 record as they outscored their first four opponents 109 to 41. However, halfway through the season they would deal with adversity as they lost their first game to Chagrin Valley Conference leader Perry (7-1). Beachwood would lose their next game as well to give them a 4-2 record. The Bisons’ knew if they wanted to make a run at the playoffs that they would have to finish out the regular season strong. The Bisons’ are now on a two game win streak and are looking to lock-in their playoff bid. A win this week against the Tigers would give Beachwood their first playoff berth in four years.
In 2017, Chagrin Falls defeated Beachwood 56-14. This season, Chagrin Falls is in second place in conference play with a 3-1 record. Beachwood is in fourth place with a 2-2 record.
Good luck to both teams and stay tuned for a post-game report.
