This week’s Cleveland Browns High School Game of the Week presented by Ohio Cat and in association with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) will feature (2-0) Olmsted Falls and (0-2) Westlake High School on Friday, Sept. 13.
In this week’s matchup, the Westlake Demons will host the prominent Olmsted Falls Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are coming off a 36-21 conference win over Berea Mid-Park last week. They opened their season with a close win, 28-27 against Brecksville-Broadview Heights. If the Bulldogs are able to get a win against Westlake, that will make them 2-0 in conference play and 3-0 on the season.
Two names to highlight from the Demon’s starting roster are senior quarterback, Travis Monken, AND senior wide receiver/defensive lineman, Tyler Malin. Monken, a recent transfer from the well-known Berkley Prep in Tampa, is son to Cleveland Browns Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken. Malin, a University of Kentucky Wildcat prospect, is son to Cleveland Browns Director of College Scouting, Steve Malin.
Both Monken and Malin led the team in statistics last week against North Olmsted. Monken completed 80% of his passes, throwing for 63 yards and a touchdown. Malin had 7.5 tackles and 1 tackle for loss.
In 2018, the Bulldogs won the matchup 48-14 defeating the Demons. The Demons look to avenge last year’s loss by beating the Bulldogs for the first time since 2016.
Good luck to both teams and stay tuned for a post-game report.
