Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Andrew Berry shared the sentiment that this year's training camp will be ripe with competition across the roster.
With multiple position groups undergoing big personnel changes during the offseason, and a new coaching staff at the helm, training camp will be used to alternate reps among those in the position group.
"We are really excited about the young core that we have in place on both sides of the ball and are looking forward to see them grow and develop over the next several weeks," Berry said.
On Day 2, the competition and battles continued at multiple positions, including quarterback, left tackle and right guard. The defense also continued its strong play, with everyone stepping up.
Quarterbacks swap first-team reps
On Thursday, QB Shedeur Sanders took reps with the projected starters, going up against the first-team defense.
"Obviously, we will alternate the just like we did in the spring, with Deshaun and Shedeur with the ones," head coach Todd Monken said on Wednesday before the first day of training camp.
Working in at wide receiver was Isaiah Bond, KC Concepcion and Jerry Jeudy for the majority of the 11-on-11 single-field snaps. Sanders found Bond a couple times during practice for short completions, while also he layered a throw to TE Jack Stoll past a couple defenders.
On the other side of the field when they Browns were two-spotting, QB Deshaun Watson worked with the second team. Watson and Concepcion teamed up multiple times throughout the day, with the rookie wide receiver coming up with a leaping grab in 7-on-7. In 11-on-11, Watson rolled to his right and found Concepcion again for another completion.

Secondary locks down the passing attack on Day 2
After coming down with multiple interceptions on Day 1, the secondary had another big day on Thursday – but this time it was with lockdown coverage instead of turnovers.
Starting on the outside were CB Tyson Campbell and CB Denzel Ward, with CB Myles Harden taking most of the first-team reps from the slot.
S Grant Delpit, who recently signed an extension, lined up at safety opposite of Ronnie Hickman.
While the secondary didn't come down with any interceptions on Day 2 of training camp, there were countless times – including multiple during the 7-on-7 period – that they were able to force plays dead and cause throwaways.
Offensive line rotation continues
Monken made it clear that ninth overall pick Spencer Fano and fourth-year tackle Dawand Jones would alternate reps at left tackle with the first-team offense to begin training camp.
"I think it's important for multiple players to go against Jared Verse," Monken said. "I think it's important for multiple linemen to go against multiple defensive linemen."
While Jones took first-team snaps on Day 1 of training camp, Fano filled in at left tackle on Thursday. Fano looked steady, including a good rep against DE Jared Verse during 11-on-11.
While at Utah, Fano played 11 games at left tackle during his freshman season before moving over to right tackle for his sophomore and junior seasons. Now with the Browns, the rookie tackle is making the switch back over to left tackle.
"I'm really confident," Fano said on Wednesday. "I've got one of the best coaches in football teaching me how to get back to that position."
Alongside left tackle, the Browns alternated reps at right guard for Day 2. G Teven Jenkins took first-team snaps on Wednesday, while KT Leveston filled in with the first team on Thursday.
With those two positions swapping reps, Tytus Howard has been at right tackle both days of training camp, with Elgton Jenkins at center and Zion Johnson at left guard.
During the offseason, offensive line was a priority for the Browns, trading for Howard from the Texans and signing both Jenkins and Johnson in free agency. After selecting Fano in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Browns enter this season with a revamped unit up front.
Defensive line shuts down the offense for second straight practice
Along with the secondary, the defensive line looked strong on Day 2. While the pads aren't on yet and there is minimal contact, the defensive line has been a standout part of training camp through two days.
Along with by Verse, DE Alex Wright has taken first team reps on the opposite side, with DT Mason Graham and DT Mike Hall Jr. on the inside. At one point during 11-on-11 reps, against the first-team offense, the defensive line forced two consecutive false start penalties. The second team defense also forced a third false start penalty late in 11-on-11 periods.
On both days, Verse has been able to break through for what would be sacks. The pocket collapsed quickly multiple times during 11-on-11 periods on Thursday, with both quarterbacks feeling the defensive line's presence so far in camp.
